Combo of the Week

It's the middle of the week, hump day. I figured it would be a good time to mix it up a bit so I'm starting a "Combo of the Week" post. No not like the combo #3 I had last night, "Chile Relleno, Cheese Enchilada, Rice & Beans", although it was a beautiful thing. I mean a little bellydance combo.

So below I've included written instructions and counts for this weeks combo. It includes finger cymbals. So dust those bad boys off and let's get to work. If you don't own a pair of finger cymbals yet you can certainly practice the combo without them for now.

If you're taking my "Combo & Finger Cymbal" class then this little piece will look quite familiar to you.
Before you start, please be safe and remember to warm up.

If any of you have filming/recording capabilities I would LOVE to see and possibly hear your results or interpretation of the following combo!

Here you go, good luck and enjoy:

COMBO OF THE WEEK
Perform this combo while playing triplets (aka: threes, gallop) on the finger cymbals throughout. Depending on your dominant hand the 1 2 3 is played either : RLR or LRL. Start with your dominant hand.

TWO CYMBAL SPEED OPTIONS:
Slower: Play 1 2 3 on counts: 1, 2, and again 1 2 3 on counts: 3, 4, again on 5, 6 and on 7, 8. So on and so on.
Faster: 1 2 3 or the triplet on each count of 8. Play a trip let on the 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.

Each section below is one count of 8, in some cases only half of that, a count of 4
Below I will first note the count the move is performed on.

1, 2 --Forward Chasse Right, Arms: extended out to sides (ballet second)
3, 4 --Undulation: Up to Down, Arms: Right arm stays extended out, Left arm/hand travels around head and extends out
5, 6 -- Forward Chasse Left, Arms: extended out to sides (ballet second)
7, 8 -- Undulation: Up to Down, Arms: Left arm stays extended out, Right arm/hand travels around head and extends out

1, 2, -- Back Chasse Right, Arms: extended out to sides (ballet second)
3, 4, -- Undulation Up to Down, Arms: Right arm stays extended out, Left arm/hand travels around head and extends out
5, 6, -- Back Chasse Left, Arms: extended out to sides (ballet second)
7, 8 -- Undulation: Up to Down, Arms: Left arm stays extended out, Right arm/hand travels around head and extends out

1, 2, -- Step back on Right Foot, Arm: both come down by hips
3, 4, -- Complete Turn - Left, Arms: ballet second

This is more of a "folksy" walk, or the arabic walk, so arms are opposing:
1, 2 -- Right Foot: Touch, Step, Arms: Left hand to head, Right extended
3, 4 -- Left Foot: Touch, Step, Arms: Right hand to head, Left extended
5, 6 -- Right Foot: Touch, Step, Arms: Left hand to head, Right extended
7, 8 -- Left Foot: Touch, Step, Arms: Right hand to head, Left extended

Layer Interior hip circle to below body level changes, circles: Front to Right, Full Time while you:
1 - 4 --, Level Down, Arms: any position, add your own flair, if not sure go to ballet second (this is safe but boring however)
5 - 8 -- Level Up, Arms: any position, add your own flair, if not sure go to ballet second (this is safe but boring however)

You are done with your little combo. I hope to see and hear it soon!

xoxo,
Gina
